The wedding day often goes by in a beautiful blur — a whirlwind of laughter, happy tears, and unforgettable moments.
Every couple has those stand-out memories that rise above the rest: a glance during the vows, a speech that made everyone cry, a quiet moment stolen away from the crowd. In this blog post, I’ve asked couples to share the memories they’ll carry with them forever — the ones that made their day truly magical.
As a Sussex wedding photographer, these heartfelt reflections are exactly why I love what I do. Capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments is more than a job — it’s a privilege.
“After the ceremony we hugged and held onto each other as if to say “Yes! We’ve done it!”
“Crystal walking in for the first time and seeing her in her wedding dress”
“Our favourite moments were walking down the aisle and seeing each other (even though we didn’t spend the night separated). After we were married, we took a moment to ourselves along with some photos before rejoining our guests.
Our first dance which we had in the town hall once everyone had left. It was a private moment for us which we greatly enjoyed and gave us a moment to absorb all the joy. Finally, doing our photos with just us, which was nice to have some romantic ones along some funny ones!”
“My standout moment of the day was walking up the aisle and seeing Alex so emotional. It was also amazing to see all of the people we love in one place.”
“Having members of two of my old bands and my current band with us on the day, and knowing how much effort people went to, to celebrate with us.”
“The big day arrived, and what a fantastic day it was. Sally looked stunning, we had some light hearted moments before, during and after the ceremony, everybody seemed to be in great spirits. The food at the reception was amazing, the comments were fantastic (you worry in case things don’t taste the same as the taster meal we had a couple of weeks before).
The speeches went well, the cake looked amazing (home made by both our nieces). The photographer, well what can I say, as this was one of your biggest weddings to date, I was so impressed with the way you organised everybody, you were patient, thoughtful and paid great attention to the pictures we asked for in our wishlist, but also gave input to shots we didn’t think of.
The album proofs were fantastic and the order in which you put the photos seamlessly led you through our day. A massive thank you to you Darren for capturing some beautiful moments we can both cherish for the rest of our lives.”
“Seeing Antony the other end waiting, he actually turned up ha! Our boys giving us our rings was also a massive thing for us. Looking back through the photos everyone seems so generally happy.”
“Literally all of it. It was so much better than I could’ve even hoped for. I particularly loved seeing family and friends, especially those who travelled from all over the world that you don’t get to see very often, particularly in the last 2 years! Having everyone I loved in one room was very special.”
“It was just an amazing day, better than we’d hoped. Seeing Laura was my highlight as she looked beautiful, but having all of our friends and family together, the food, the music (our band, Serotonic, were awesome!). Everyone looked so proud of us and it was just perfect.”
“The whole day was amazing, we had the best day. So many great memories but a few memories that really stood out was walking down the aisle with my dad, seeing Bob with a tear in his eye as I walked up to him and his son Adam who gave an unexpected speech that was heartfelt and very emotional. His speech was not planned, off the cuff and some many guests shed tears.”
“The moment Tara came down the aisle and our eyes met, we immediately felt at ease and the nerves melted away. Having all of our family there as this was the first time we could all meet after all the restrictions, which made the day even more precious!”
