Behind the Scenes: The Cake Smash Experience in Littlehampton
We had the absolute delight of capturing beautiful Imogen’s 1st birthday cake smash session at our cosy Littlehampton photography studio in West Sussex. Imogen took to the camera like a natural - she looked like she’d just toddled out of a JoJo Maman Bébé catalogue!
Together with Mum (Rose) and Dad (Russell), we all had a fantastic time watching Imogen explore her colourful setup. From peeking out behind oversized blue balloons to cuddling her fluffy toy rabbit, every moment was full of personality and charm.
Our Littlehampton cake smash sessions are always unique, and Imogen’s was no exception. When we presented her with the vibrant rainbow cake, her face lit up with delight. She gently removed the rainbow topper and began taking tiny handfuls of icing with such care. That’s what we love most about these milestone sessions - each child reacts so differently. Some dive in with fists flying, covering the studio in frosting. Others, like Imogen, treat the cake like a precious treasure. She said:
“We had such a fabulous experience being photographed by Darren to celebrate our little lady’s first birthday. He was extremely patient, had a great vision and put all of us at ease. He is an excellent photographer and we couldn’t believe how well all the photos came out. Can’t wait to use him again for future family shoots and would recommend him to anyone!”
We’re so pleased that Imogen and her lovely parents enjoyed their session. After every cake smash, we like to take a few family portraits to capture those heartfelt moments between parents and child. Rose and Russell were an absolute joy to photograph - such a warm and wonderful family.
